Miss Kitty's tea party.

This is a conte crayon drawing that I did. It was very akward doing all the little details as it smuges so easily and I'm so clumsy.

The idea of the cats behaving in a more human-like way fits in with a project I've been doing were we've had to think up visualy disturbing and freakish material. I've always believed that the most disturbing things are not those were there is something very obviously wrong but were the strangeness is suitble and has to be looked for.

I've always found animals behaving in un-animal like ways strange and unexpected. It's the familiar mixed together in a new and unexpected way.

Accidental Finds

I was really looking for a votive picture for somebody giving thanks for a speedy recovery from an accident or something, but instead I found this lovely picture. The way the flowers and foliage are painted remind me of toll painting :-)

Looking for inspiring artists

I was looking round for pictures on the net to help inspire me for one of my projects, particuly anything to do with circuses and freak shows. Accidently came across this wonderful image, I'm not sure who the artist is, it looks like a wax model, the translucency of the skin is wonderful. There ought to be a lot of blood though. That table/plinth should be swimming in it.

I love the expression of the mother, she looks seriously freaked out at what has crawled out of her belly :D Maybe the baby is pulling faces at her.

These are pictures I took when the Statuetes fair came to visit my local town. I thought it would be interesting to try amd take pictures of the rides in action as well as trying to capture all the enjoyment people were obviously getting from the whole event. The people pictures didn't come out quite as well. I'm going to try using a tripod next year.

Depressed Skeletons

This is the latest in a series of skeleton pictures that I have done for a relative. They requested of me that I draw a skeleton that was obviously anguished in some way, and that this would be expressed through its behaviour. This is all for a powerpoint display for a talk about chaplency in a hospital enviroment and the services they provide.

So far I think this is the most successful one. I think with the poor think being scrunched up in a corner scratching the flesh off its won head it exhibits a prticular sort of dispair.

Should be nice and cheerful for the intrested people who come along to the talk :D
